What is the difference between a Breeder and Puppy Mills

Many of these commercial breeders have hundreds of dogs. An inspection report I received recently included a dog with a broken back who had not received vet care, and two dogs with ingrown collars. Click here to see one of his dogs that was purchased at a dog auction. Did your dog come from this breeder? PLEASE DON'T BUY WHILE MILLIONS DIE!

Reasons to spay and neuter your pets

Letter from a concerned citizen about baby Quaker Parrots at Petland in South Point, OH.

There are too many homeless dogs of EVERY breed. Please do not breed or buy while great dogs like these are homeless. Many will not find a home. If we stop buying, they will stop breeding. Adopt your next pet and let the breeders and pet stores know how you feel about their contribution to the pet overpopulation problem.

SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS

Put shelters and rescues out of business. Think of it this way. Your pet dog has a litter of eight puppies. You find homes for them all. Now eight dogs will be killed at your local shelter, because there are eight fewer homes to place them in. Or you buy a puppy from a pet store. There's another home gone and another homeless pet killed. There are very few legitimate reasons to breed. Five thousand pets are killed each DAY in this country.

YOU CAN HELP!

Have your pets spayed or neutered to cut down on the abundance of unwanted puppies and kittens.
Volunteer your time at a local shelter.
Provide a foster home for an abandoned pet.
Adopt a pet and give it a good home INDOORS with you and your family. Dogs are pack animals and become very unhappy if left alone outdoors, especially on chains. The United States Department of Agriculture has stated that tethering (chaining) is cruelty to animals.
BOYCOTT PETLAND AND OTHER PET STORES THAT SELL PUPPIES AND KITTENS. Pet stores are a major source of breeding stock for backyard breeders. And the parents of those pet store puppies suffer every day of their lives to stock pet store shelves. Read this article about the sick puppies in a Petland store published on 06/07/2019
BOYCOTT BACKYARD BREEDERS
Backyard breeders are producing puppies for profit. This is selfish and irresponsible. Shelter pets are dying by the thousands every day. For every backyard bred puppy that is sold, a shelter pet will die.
